no such virtue

No Such Virtue is an emergent relationship of sharp edges, fuzzy corners, and buzzing thresholds. Two people navigate this landscape through slipping, slapping, and sounding while being confronted with negotiations of power and pleasure.

This research is rooted in improvising with consent on the spectrum of intimacy and impact. We ask, what preparation and (after)care is needed to consent to being “pushed to the edge”? How do we come together and come apart? Through this practice as performance, we are researching and developing modalities that can open pathways for transformation and new ways of relating to personhood.

No Such Virtue was created and performed by Mei Bao and Kriss Rulifson in Berlin 2023. This creation was supported and produced by A.PART Festival, Against the Grain Festival, and Knotted Festival. We hope to develop this piece further in 2024 into a full-length production and are currently applying for funding to support its development.
